Things i would tell my brides before their wedding day

  • A Wedding Coordinator (if you haven’t already hired a Wedding Planner)

    The morning of your wedding — whether intimate or grand — comes with countless questions:

    “Where do these go?”
    “Where can I find this?”
    “Did someone already steam the dresses?”
    “Where is the steamer?”
    “One of the groomsmen forgot something — what do we do?”
    “Who’s taking care of that?”

    If you, as the bride, are the only person able to answer and direct everyone, the first 4–6 hours of your wedding day can become chaotic. While the rest of the day will already be a whirlwind of emotions and celebration, your wedding morning should feel relaxed, calm, and unhurried.

    Having to field every question and fix every issue not only affects the morning’s energy, it interrupts hair and makeup services and causes delays in your timeline.

    A Wedding Coordinator takes the reins weeks before your wedding and brings your vision to life on the day, handling every detail and resolving any problems that come up. That lets you stay present and focused on marrying the love of your life.

  • It depends on the vibe you want: true candid, unposed moments or a more directed, polished approach.

    • True candid shots capture the morning as it unfolds — hair half done, makeup only partway (maybe just one lash). The result feels natural and genuine. For this style, have your media team arrive about 2 hours before your scheduled ready time.

    • Directed shots show a more finished look — hair and makeup roughly 95% complete for a polished feel. For this style, schedule your media team to arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour before your scheduled ready time.

  • LASH EXTENSIONS

    If you have an amazing lash artist who has consistently provided you with your go-to lash extension style, I recommend continuing to go to them for your wedding lash, if you want to have lash extensions for your big day.

    If you don’t typically wear lash extensions and are considering having them for your wedding, I recommend getting them done 2-3 months before your wedding date to have time to decide whether you like the style and are comfortable with the upkeep that comes with them.

    Once you find your perfect lash artist and style, I recommend getting your lash extensions done within 1 week of your wedding date.

    LASH LIFTS

    The short answer is to not have your lash lift done on your wedding day as it will typically impede false lashes from applying flush to your lash line. However, if your wedding day look doesn’t include a false lash application, then your lash lift is perfect!

  • Prepare a box with all your wedding details the night before:

    • Rings (all three)

    • Invitation suite

    • Vow books or any similar literature

    • Jewelry

    • Anything else that you want captured with your detail shots

    The first thing your photographer/videographer will ask for when they start their coverage are these items. Having them all together and ready to go when the media team arrives means no one in your party, who is likely getting their hair & makeup done, will need to get up from their service to get these items together.

  • MEALS
    If you have a morning start earlier than 7am, I recommend having some fruit trays and veggie trays available for your party to pick at an hour or so after your party’s dedicated start time.

    People underestimate how hungry they can get a couple hours from being up so early.

    The best breakfasts are light, easy to digest and refreshing.

    COFFEE
    Morning coffee is always welcome although we recommend limiting your intake to 1 cup before your scheduled hair & makeup service. Coffee can sometimes cause some involuntary movements that may affect the makeup application.

  • Steam everything the night before your wedding. If any items need to be steamed on the day of the wedding, we recommend this be done in another room, away from where the hair & makeup services are being done.

    We also recommend that the person doing the steaming be someone who hasn’t already gotten their hair & makeup done as the steam will affect the completed hair & makeup look.
